Graphic and UX/UI Designer

I am a Chicago born Latina and proud mother of 3, who had creative dreams from the beginning. Despite hardships growing up, I attended art school as a first generation student. I have worked as a graphic designer since 2008 and recently completed a self-paced training in UX/UI Design through the Google Career Certificates program.

About

Hi! My name is Jenny (Veguilla) Lezan

I have a Bachelor of Arts with a focus in Marketing and Design.  I graduated from Benedictine University's MBA graduate program in Entrepreneurship and Small

Business Management in 2011.

I worked in corporate marketing in the mid 2000s and have been freelancing since 2008. My experience includes working as a creative marketer in the fashion industry for brands like Claire's Stores Inc., supporting the local Chicago fashion industry through a digital zine called Halfstack and The Chicago Fashion Foundation. I have also freelanced as graphic design support for small businesses and non-profits like The Debt Collective and 360 Youth Services.

From 2011-2022, I also taught as an adjunct professor in the Marketing and Design departments of colleges and universities such as: College of Dupage, Columbia College Chicago and Southern New Hampshire University. I now teach my own courses online

In addition to the work I do as a freelance creative, I am a fierce advocate because of the hardships I faced growing up in Chicago. In the past, I've worked for and volunteered at non profits and I use my graphic design background to support causes that I am passionate about. You can learn more about "Design for Good" and my journey below!

My Design Approach

Humanity. First. Always. I'm inspired by human centered design that creates a positive impact on the world. My methodology puts users at the forefront with analysis of people’s needs considering their environment and accessibility.  It then combines problem exploration alongside creative and patient research with a goal of developing potential solutions that may not always be the obvious choice.
